Funnity

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Funnity (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use funnity.com, our mobile apps, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge this policy.

1. Who we are

Funnity is a neighborhood meetup platform that helps people discover, create, join, and attend local community events, coordinate in event chat, and build safer in-person connections.

Controller contact for privacy questions: privacy@funnity.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide, information generated by your use of the Service, and information from third-party services you choose to connect.

Account and profile: name, email address, password (stored hashed), preferred language, sex/audience preference, profile photo, and public profile identifiers.

Identity verification: government ID images (front/back) and a selfie you upload so we can review account trust and safety. These documents are treated as sensitive and are available only for moderation and security purposes.

Location preferences: city and preferred distance you set so we can show nearby events and local weather context. Exact GPS is not required for core browsing; map pins you place for event venues are stored with those events.

Events and participation: events you create or join, join requests, membership roles, ratings, favorites, tickets, and related activity.

Communications: event chat messages, reactions (like/dislike), and in-app notifications. Push notification device tokens may be stored so we can deliver alerts when you opt in on a device.

Safety tools: reports you submit, blocks you create, and related moderation notes.

Technical and usage data: IP address, browser/app type, device identifiers needed for sessions and push, approximate logs for security and reliability, and cookies or similar technologies necessary to keep you signed in.

Third-party sign-in: if you use Google Sign-In, we receive basic account details (such as name, email, and verification status) from Google according to your Google settings and our OAuth configuration.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• create and manage your account, verify email, and authenticate sessions (including mobile API tokens); • run identity checks and keep the community safer; • show relevant events near your preferred city and distance; • operate event creation, join requests, memberships, tickets, ratings, favorites, and chat; • send transactional notices (for example verification codes, join request updates, and chat-related alerts); • moderate content, investigate reports, enforce rules, and protect against abuse; • personalize branding and experience (language, site display name, app version checks); • maintain security, debug issues, prevent fraud, and improve reliability; • comply with law and respond to lawful requests.

4. Legal bases and choices

Depending on where you live, we process information based on contract (to provide the Service you request), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, community safety), consent (where required—for example certain notifications or optional uploads), and legal obligation.

You can update profile and location settings in the app or website, change language, manage blocked users, and control device notification permissions in your OS settings. You may withdraw consent where processing is consent-based, without affecting earlier lawful processing.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information with:

• other members, as needed for the product — for example your public profile name/photo, events you host or join (as visible in the product), and chat messages you send in event threads; • service providers who process data for us under instructions, such as hosting, email delivery, databases, realtime messaging (for example Pusher/compatible channels), and push delivery (for example Firebase Cloud Messaging); • Google, when you choose Google Sign-In; • Apple, when you choose Sign in with Apple; • platform moderators and administrators for safety, identity review, reports, and abuse response; • authorities or other parties when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a corporate transaction (with appropriate safeguards).

Event hosts and members may see information you choose to share in profiles, events, and chat. Do not post sensitive data in chat that you do not want others to see.

5a. Account deletion

You may delete your account from Profile / Settings → Delete account, or follow https://funnity.com/account-deletion. Deletion starts a 30-day grace period during which you can cancel. After that we permanently remove or anonymize personal data (including identity documents) as described in this policy. Some event or chat records may remain in anonymized form for other members.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the website to function—especially to keep you logged in, remember language preference, and protect forms (CSRF). We may also use limited analytics or performance tooling configured on our infrastructure.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other core features from working.

7. Location information

City and distance preferences are used to rank and filter nearby events and related home/dashboard context (such as local weather when available). Event venues may include a place name and map coordinates you or a host provide.

We do not require continuous background tracking to use the Service. If a device permission dialog appears for location (for example to help place a pin), you can deny it and still use the Service with manual city/place input where supported.

8. Identity documents

Identity document images and selfies are collected to reduce fake accounts and improve trust for in-person meetups. Access is restricted to authorized moderation and security workflows. We retain these materials only as long as needed for verification, safety, dispute handling, and legal requirements, then delete or securely de-identify them according to our retention practices.

Submitting false documents or another person’s documents is prohibited and may lead to account action.

9. Chat, reactions, and notifications

Messages you send in an event chat are visible to members of that event (and may be reviewed by moderators when needed for safety). Reactions show counts and, when available, who reacted.

Push and in-app notifications may alert you about join requests, acceptances, chat activity, and reactions. Chat push notifications are designed not to include full message text. You can disable system notifications in your device settings; you may still see in-app notices while using the Service.

10. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce policies, and meet legal, tax, or security requirements.

When an account is deactivated or deleted, we remove or restrict access to personal data that is no longer required, subject to backups and lawful retention. Some information may remain in anonymized or aggregated form. Messages and event records may persist for other participants even after you leave an event or delete content that others still need for context.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls for sensitive identity files, and authenticated APIs for mobile apps.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use a strong unique password, protect your devices, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

12. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, update, delete, or restrict certain personal information; object to certain processing; request portability; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

You can edit much of your profile and location data directly in Settings. For other requests (including deletion), contact privacy@funnity.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and some rights may be limited where we must retain data for safety, legal, or operational reasons.

13. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact privacy@funnity.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

14. International transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than where you live, including where our hosting and service providers operate. When we transfer personal information internationally, we take steps designed to provide an appropriate level of protection consistent with this policy and applicable law.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice (for example in-product or by email). Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where applicable law requires additional consent.
